****ROAD CONSTRUCTION AROUND CMS*****
The City of Chadron will begin road construction at the intersection of 6th and Ann Street and roads will be blocked beginning on August 16th. The construction project will impact drop off and pick up at Chadron Middle School and Chadron Primary School. The map below shows the areas that will be blocked and suggested traffic routes. Also, please note that there will be no through traffic in the parking lot and the gate will be closed during school hours.

CMS Parent Meeting Information and Slideshow
Parents,
CMS will host two parent meetings - August 9th (5th Grade Orientation) and August 10th (6th-8th Grade). Both meetings will be held at 6 PM in the CMS gym. Families that have a 5th grade student and another student in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade do not need to attend both nights. The same information will be covered at both meetings.

Chadron Middle School Fall Sports Start Dates
Chadron Middle School will begin official practices on the following dates:
Cross Country: August 7th - 6:30 AM and students should meet on the north side of the CHS football field. After school practice will begin on August 14th.
Volleyball: August 18th meeting and practice begins after school on August 21st
Football: August 21st meeting and practice begins after school on August 22nd.

Cardinal Summer Drama Program Information and Registration
Cardinal Summer Drama ProgramCalling all singers, dancers, and actors in grades 2-8. Join us for our first summer drama program! We will performing the wonderful musical Annie Jr. Audition Dates: June 27th-28th Camp Dates: July 10th-21stShow Date: July 22ndCamp Times: 8:00-12:00 Cost: $15 per student
Performers of all levels are encouraged to take part. There will be acting, dancing, set building, costuming, and stage makeup. The camp will end with show production on July 22nd.
Cards Care Day of Service
On May 22nd, Chadron Middle School students, faculty, staff, parent volunteers and community partners engaged in a day of service learning activities around the community. The day was a huge success and a fantastic way to end the school year! Thank you to our community partners at Chadron State College, NRD, Keep Chadron Beautiful, Dawes County Fair Board, Prairie Pines, Crestview and Keep Chadron Beautiful for working with our students on the service projects.

May 22nd - Cards Care Day of Service Student/Staff Rosters
Parents,
Below are the activities and rosters for the Cards Care Day of Service. Parents are welcomed to join us on that day (The more the merrier)! Students who are working at Railroad Park, CSC the Fair Grounds and with Mr. Calkins should should wear old clothes as the students will be painting, cleaning and planting.
Rosters may be adjusted in the Morning of May 22nd, depending on attendance on that day. If your students(s) will be gone that day, please be sure to call the office that morning.

8th Grade Band Festival
On May 11th, 8th grade band members from Chadron Middle School and Gordon-Rushville Middle School performed together at the Chadron High School Auditorium. The two bands practiced together for about an hour-and-a-half before the performance. This is the second year that the two bands, led by Mr. Rischling and Mr. Meng, performed together. Like last year, the kids had a great time meeting each other and playing music together.
Parent Meeting for Incoming 5th Grade Students - May 11th
Chadron Middle School will host a parent meeting for the parents of incoming 5th grade students at 6 PM in the CMS Library. Parents can park on the north or east side of the building. The northeast entrance will be open. The library is located on the 2nd floor. The transition from the Intermediate School to Chadron Middle School can be the source of anxiety for students and parents. The purpose of the meeting is to provide parents with information to help ease the transition.
May 10th - 5th and 8th grade Orientation
This Wednesday, May 10th, CMS will host our annual 5th grade orientation from 1:00-2:00. 4th grade students will come over to CMS to be introduce to their new school and teachers. The orientation will include a building tour, a short 20-minute class rotation (5-min. in each class) to meet their new teachers and a Q & A session with Mr. Dressel and the 5th grade Student Council Representatives.
