On March 15th, twelve FBLA students ventured across the street to attend the first annual American Business Competition at Chadron State College. Since this was the first competition hosted by CSC, Nebraska Council on Economic Education and Phi Beta Lambda (PBL), attendance from other schools in the panhandle was not quite at the level they were hoping for. However, Chadron High and Hay Springs both showed up ready to compete. Students were given one hour to complete a 100 question test in each event.
This is the time of year to start planning for the many year-end events. I thought I'd take the time to share those important dates and times.
Graduation will take place in the high school gym again this year. We do not reserve or block off sections of seats for families. Instead, parents/friends are welcome to enter the gymnasium when it opens at 11:00am and reserve up to 10 seats on the gym floor for the family of each graduating senior. There is additional seating provided in the bleachers.

(Press release from the ACT News Desk)Local Student Achieves Top ACT Score!Walt Mays, son of Lucinda and Roger Mays and a 12th grade student at Chadron High School, earned the highest possible ACT composite score of 36. On average, less than one-tenth of 1 percent of students who take the ACT earn a top score. In the U.S. high school graduating class of 2016, only 2,235 out of nearly 2.1 million graduates who took the ACT earned a composite score of 36.

CHADRON FFA SHINES AT FIRST CAREER DEVELOPMENT CONTEST OF THE YEARby Chadron FFA Reporter Hunter Hawk
Nebraska developed NeSA (Nebraska State Accountability) tests years ago. At the high school level, only grade 11 students are tested to provide important information about each school's ability to teach curriculum standards. Of course, Chadron High School has gained an academic reputation due to high test scores each year. For example, last year Chadron High School had the 3rd highest Reading scores among all Nebraska high schools.
However, high school accountability is changing!
