October has been a busy month in Counseling Connections Class at the Primary School!  October is National Bullying Awareness Month and  National Red Ribbon Week falls on the last week of the month. Through Counseling Connections classes, students have learned to define bullying (being mean, on purpose, over and over).  Students also learned to recognize, report, and refuse bullying.  We discussed the difference between bystanders and upstanders during class time as well.
Red Ribbon week was observed with dress up days and themes revolving around making healthy choices for our bodies and our brains. The National Family Partnership sponsored the first National Red Ribbon Campaign in 1988.  This year's National theme was: Life is a puzzle, solve it drug free. Thanks to all of our students, families, and staff who participated in the dress up days and helped make this a fun week of learning to make healthy choices for our bodies and our brains.
