CHS Junior, Colette Mahr Wins State Writing Award

Colette Mahr, a Junior at Chadron High School, garnered considerable merit this month after she earned top honors in the annual ‘Letters About Literature’ contest. The contest was comprised of three levels, Colette winning the Nebraska High School division. Colette will be recognized for her essay on April 6th, in Lincoln, during a proclamation ceremony with Governor Ricketts for National Library Week.

CHS To Appear In Upcoming TV Commercials


Nebraska Loves Public Schools has just launched it's first traditional media campaign, featuring television commercials with the message "Great Public Schools Build A Great Nebraska."

This Wednesday: The NAVY SEAL's Return for Youth Leadership Training

The date of the Youth Leadership Training has been moved to Wednesday, March 23rd.  The NAVY SEALS will present the Human Performance Project to students and parents or anyone interested in a healthy lifestyle.  Chadron High School coaches and athletes are trained in the Human Performance Project to promote healthy lifestyles.

Join us this Wednesday, March 23rd from 6-8p @ the CSC Ballroom!

Chadron Public Schools completed AdvancEd district accreditation last year with high reviews.  It is interesting to note that in 2018 Chadron High School will have completed it's 100th year of accreditation.

Chadron FFA Wraps Up District 12 Competition in a Big Way!

The Chadron FFA chapter concluded its distinct competition season Wednesday after

competing in Kimball. The chapter rolled into town with 24 students vying for the last opportunity

to qualify for the right to compete at the state competition held this April in Lincoln. At the

conclusion of the competition 15 members placed well enough in their respective competitions to

earn the right to compete at the state competition. These state qualifiers join the 12 additional

CHS Parent/Teacher Conferences Thursday, Feb. 11th

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held Thursday, February 11th from 5:00-8:30pm.

In conjunction with conferences, the CHS Guidance Office will be hosting a Sophomore and Junior Parent Night. Sophomore and junior students and parents are invited to attend a short presentation in the auditorium at 6:00pm during conferences (Feb. 11th). Topics will include:

FBLA Visits 4th Grade!

On Wednesday, February 3rd a group of Future Business Leaders of America members visited Mrs. Dicky’s 4th grade classroom at Chadron Intermediate School in order to complete an American Enterprise Project.  

Challenge Accepted! Student Section Sportsmanship Challenge

Gordon-Rushville High School has challenged our student cheering section to a contest this Saturday during the varsity basketball games in Gordon.

Did You Know CHS Offers Tutoring Everyday?!

As the new semester begins, we typically get phone calls from parents asking if tutors are available for students struggling with the transition of a new class load.  The response is, "Yes".  In fact, our tutors are the most knowledgable individuals for helping students with homework and are available everyday!

CHS Participates in Oregon Trail Honor Band

On Monday, 11 students from the CHS Band participated in the Oregon Trail Honor Band at Gering High School.

FFA Team Finishes First!

 Chadron FFA recently completed another outstanding contest. Chapter members recently competed at WNCC in the District 12 contests. They competed in Livestock Evalutation, Welding, Floriculture, and AG Sales. There are many reasons to celebrate! First, The Livestock Management team consisting of (Kane Wellnitz, Cody Madsen, Hunter Hawk, Beau and Drew Jersild, and Katie Lewin). They took the top honors in the six categories. They were the top scorers in Beef and Dairy. They also placed Second in Poultry and Swine.

Second Semester Begins January 5th!

We hope everyone had a great break!

Just a reminder that second semester begins on January 5th.  It's hard to believe the school year is half over.  The spring semester always seems busier with state testing, activities/sports as well as year-end events.

CHS Will Conduct Community Service Projects for Dec. 23rd

Chadron High School always looks to try a new venture on the last day of the fall semester.  The plan this year is to take some time to "give back" to our community that supports us all year.
