CooperationThe past few weeks we have been discussing cooperation in our 3rd and 4th grade classes.  Cooperation sometimes takes work and being patient with one another.  Students find out we cooperate with just about everything we do every day.
As we learned about cooperation, we decided to take our guidance classrooms outside and pick up the rocks and gravel that were moved off the parking lot and into the grass during the winter snow removal.  First we discussed how we could all cooperate while doing this, and thinking about safety was one of our main concerns during this activity.  It worked out great and everyone enjoyed helping and cooperating to accomplish this task.  The post discussion then led to how long it would have taken one person to do the same thing, and how cooperating with one another is more efficient.  This led some of the 4th grade class discussion, as we have been doing a unit on careers.
