March Math MadnessOn the final day of March, near to the final hour of our school day, Quincy West came to share why a
railroad engineer needs to know math. Our speaker spoke of tons, torque, elevation and degrees of slope.
We learned that diesel fuel runs cleaner and farther than highway transport. "BNSF moves enough grain to
supply 90 million people with a year's supply of bread. BNSF hauls enough coal to power one of every 10
homes in the nation." Thank you Mr. West!
Kids always ask why they need to know about this or that. Especially when doing Math Homework! Every year the teachers ask parents to come in and explain how they use math in their jobs. We appreciate all the parents who have given their time to answer that age old question: Why do I have to know about math?
Math at the Hospital? You Bet! We wouldn't want to over prescribe your medicine.
